This spring, I’m bringing bootcut back. Remember that fit? The one that made our legs look leaner and straighter from hip to heel? The one we wore in the late 90s and early 2000s when the word “skinny” referred more commonly to a body type than a blue jean? I love a bootcut, always have, and I’m thrilled that brands are revisiting them now, cutting them in the best, technical denims, and updating the proportions to look current and seriously flattering (goodbye, hip-huggers, hello, high rises!). The one I just discovered is DL1961’s Elodie style, which comes in their DLX Hybrid fabrication, a 4-way stretch with a high cotton content, so it feels sturdy and reacts well to vintage-inspired washes. Do you like them on me? I really do. With a smart jacket and my 3 1/2-inch block-heeled boots, especially.

Let me also mention that DL1961 makes the white Angel ankle jeans that Aerin Lauder chose to wear when we photographed her at home in East Hampton last summer, too; one of the most popular pairs we’ve ever posted ($168 and still available!). Those, and now these Elodies… in Jean Stories’ book, DL, we call it affectionately, is hitting 2 for 2. Can’t lose.
