Jean Stories is about everything denim. Who’s wearing it, why we love it, and how we live in it everyday.

Jane Herman, Co-founder and Creative Director

Jane Bishop

Jane grew up in Los Angeles selling jeans at her family’s Ron Herman stores. As a fashion writer in New York she’s contributed to Vogue, T Magazine, where she was once the online editor, and Elle, Lucky, and Travel + Leisure magazines; she is currently the Branded Content Director at Vogue. Jane co-founded Jean Stories in 2013 because she loves wearing jeans and can talk about them all day, every day. Her right-now favorites: A pair of custom tailored men’s Denimes, AMO’s Babe style jeans (in every wash), and Sonia Rykiel high-rise flares. Follow Jane on Instagram: @JanePageHerman

Florence Kane, Co-founder and Editorial Director

Florence Kane

Florence’s fondest denim memories were, until now, from the 90s: stealing her dad’s Levi’s and Pendleton plaids when she was in high school in San Diego; decorating her room with Calvin Klein Jeans ads. Later, as a writer at Vogue, she covered fashion news and chronicled the comings and goings of trends and styles – among them, emerging denim labels. After a stint in Los Angeles, where she was a senior editor at C Magazine, Florence returned to New York to start Jean Stories with Jane. She is now the Digital Fashion Director at Her latest loves: Vintage Levi’s 517s and her husband’s patch-sewn Lee jacket from when he was a kid – though not necessarily together.
