“We’re really obsessed with cool girls wearing jeans and t-shirts,” says Marta Marques, who with Paulo Almeida designs the denim-heavy London fashion label Marques’ Almeida. And what could be better than a collaboration with Topshop at getting thousands of the coolest girls in more of this look? Today, fans of Marques’ Almeida’s mania-inducing rough-edged indigos can now access it at the high street outpost, online and at Topshop stores in the U.K. and U.S.A. (The launch could not be better timed, with the spring collections having just wrapped, and editors – ourselves included – naming designer denim one of its best trends.) “We really got to dig deep into our very favorite 90s references in a fun way without holding back,” says Marta, citing back issues of i-D and The Face, grunge-era Corinne Day shoots with Kate Moss, and her own little sister Sofia, as inspirations for the youthful, sexy, 68-piece collection, which includes – but is not limited to – perfectly shredded denim separates. The collaboration in one word? “Authentic,” they say. Just like jeans, in every way. Get it fast, it’s going, going…
